About us

A decade of energy performance, from Chambéry to Kigali

“We tailor our services to our clients, and we meet you at your point of need.”

Rwanda Energy Ltd was founded in 2013 by Parfait Mugiraneza Ntambiyindekwe, an expert in energy management, renewable energy and the energy performance of buildings. After more than 15 years practising across the European energy sector, he began exploring opportunities on the African continent in the early 2010s — consulting on solar installations for European clients and leading several European energy companies operating in Africa.

That experience became the foundation for a Rwanda-based company with a Pan-African outlook: a team that studies, installs and maintains the systems it designs, and stands behind them long after commissioning.

What we do

From the first feasibility study to years of upkeep

A seven-person team of engineers and technicians covers a project end to end — so the people who size a system are the same people who stand on the roof, and the ones who answer the phone three years later.

01

Engineering

Load analysis, system sizing and electromechanical consulting for solar, water and power projects of any scale.

02

Technical studies

Site assessments and feasibility studies that match a system to local conditions, energy policy and budget.

03

Sale of equipment

Sourcing and supply of solar PV, solar thermal, pumping and electrical equipment from trusted manufacturers.

04

Installation

Full installation of PV, solar water heating, pumping, plumbing and electrical systems, delivered by our own technicians.

05

Maintenance

Preventive and curative maintenance and site monitoring, so systems keep performing years after handover.

06

Technical training

Hands-on training for installers and maintenance technicians — the same programme that has trained over 3,000 technicians in France.

Our expertise

Six ways we put energy performance to work

We tailor each system to the client — architects, hoteliers, hospitals, farmers, policy makers — and to where the power actually needs to go.

Solar water heating panel installed on a tiled roof

Solar water heating

Sunny-day savings of up to 100% on hot water. We size the system to your climate and daily hot-water demand, and schedule high-use activities for peak sun hours.

Solar PV, on-grid

A long-lived investment: panels run 20–25 years, only the inverter needs replacing at around year 10.

Solar PV, off-grid

Power for residences, mountain refuges, telecom masts and road signage, wherever grid electricity is costly or absent.

Solar-powered water pump feeding a storage tank

Solar pumping

Domestic supply, crop irrigation, orchards and livestock watering — sized to your daily water need and drilling depth.

Plumbing & electricity

Installation and maintenance of plumbing, heating and electrical systems alongside every energy project.

Energy audits & advisory

Systematic reviews of a building or site’s energy use, plus advisory support for companies performing their own installs.

Over a decade of output

What that adds up to

More than ten years of installing, training and advising — measured in the systems running today.

650+ kWcResidential solar PV installed, 3–5 kWc systems
30+ MWcSolar PV studied and advised for large accounts
800,000+ LSolar thermal capacity installed, collective & individual

Rwanda-based, working across the continent

In just over a decade we’ve carried the same standard of engineering into four countries, adapting each system to local context.

Rwanda

5- and 4-star hotel hot-water systems, 120 registered solar thermosiphon units for homes, hospital and health-centre power in Rusizi and Rubavu, and a 180-hectare irrigation system in Ndego.

Central African Republic

A 250 kWc workshop and gallery installation, plus hybrid solar & PV back-up systems for two hotels totalling 260 kWc and 13,000 L/day of solar hot water.

Democratic Republic of Congo

Lighting and pumping for a fuel station, a 230 kWc system for a shop gallery and dairy operation, and a 50 kWc mini off-grid PV installation.

South Sudan

Hybrid PV, generator and grid systems for an airport (150 kWc) and a government ministry building (200 kWc).

Every country has energy-efficiency potential, whatever resources it starts with — oil, gas, wind, solar or hydropower. Paraphrased from the International Energy Agency’s Executive Director, Energy Efficiency 2018 report
Why energy efficiency matters

The first fuel is the energy you never had to generate

Energy efficiency means delivering the same service — light, hot water, a cooled room — using less energy. An LED bulb produces the same light as an incandescent one for a fraction of the power; proper insulation cuts the energy needed to heat or cool a building. It’s distinct from energy conservation, which relies on people changing their habits — efficiency delivers savings on its own.

The IEA has estimated that efficiency gains could cut global consumer energy bills by hundreds of billions of dollars a year while lowering energy imports and air pollution, and could account for a large share of the emissions cuts needed to meet global climate goals — without waiting for new technology.

It starts with a clear picture of where energy is being lost. An energy audit is a systematic review of a building or organisation’s energy use that identifies where savings are possible and what actions deliver them — the starting point for most of the projects on this page.
